Rex Airlines has sent shockwaves throughout the South East this week, the airline announcing they will be scaling back services between Mount Gambier and Adelaide.
In a released statement, the company have said recent “unfair criticisms” have been levelled at Rex by local officials.
The airline says the decision has been made to better utilise very scarce resources, with details of the changes to be released soon.
Rex have maintained they offer exceptional services; in the face of a worldwide pilot shortage, reliability of services as a result of the shortage, and competition.
The announcement has left the State Government seeking an “urgent explanation”.
State Regional Development Minister Tim Whetstone has told InDaily he wants to know what the justification is to reduce any regional airline service.
InDaily reports -- Barker MP Tony Pasin has reached out to the airline, planning a meeting in June.
