The Gold Coast is losing one of its favourite live-music venues.
The owners of NightQuarter in Helensvale have taken to Facebook to announce the night-markets and music venue is shutting down for good.
One of the owners, Michelle Christoe, said a hike in rent was to blame.
"We've had counter-offers going back and forward between us and the centre and we haven't been able to come up with a deal that works".
"We're looking at more than double the current rent," she said.
After hosting more than 6,000 artists over the past three years, Michelle said she and her husband would continue to look for a new site on the Gold Coast, but hadn't found anything suitable yet.
"We believe that venues like NightQuarter are very important to the Gold Coast and incubating the talent that exists here, which is amazing."
The post had more than 6,000 responses in just 12 hours, with well-wishes pouring in.
Michelle thanked the community for its support.
"We're really privileged and humbled by all the interest and support by the locals, the artists and the local community; the response has just been overwhelming".
There are still two weeks left to enjoy the street-food, markets and music before the doors close for the final time.
The venue will open for the Summer Ice Cream Festival this weekend, Australia Day celebrations next weekend, then UB40 (who sing classic hit Red Wine) will hit the stage to see out the popular night-markets on 1 February.
