Beyonce has always been an icon, an ally and a beacon of light for the LGBT community and now it seems her family has an even closer connection.

Upon the release of his new album 4:44, Jay Z has revealed a message for his Mum Gloria, who is gay.

In a song called 'Smile' there are lyrics like: ‘Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/ Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian / Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate / Society shame and the pain was too much to take / Cried tears of joy when you fell in love / Doesn’t matter if it’s a him or her / I just wanna see you smile through all the hate.’
