Security at regional airports too costly

No mandatory screening in Mount Gambier

8 August 2017

Security has been raised in major airports around the country in an effort to make flying as safe as possible for passengers.

But those measures won't be implemented at Mount Gambier Airport - with Rex Airlines saying the requirements would be too costly.

The mandatory screening process in Mount Gambier would cost the airline upwards of 750 thousand dollars per year, and with 45 regional towns, could cost upwards of 34 million per year.
