Second-Hand Gift-Giving Is On The Rise This Christmas

New research has shown that second-hand gift-giving is on the rise this year as we head into the festive season.

The study by Gumtree has shown that nearly 65 per cent of consumers would be happy to receive a second-hand present.

This is a 10 per cent increase from last year.

However, while this trend is on the rise, one-third or people still remain concerned that buying second-hand will make them look cheap.

"Rather than look cheap, you look really thoughtful," Gumtree spokesperson Kirsty Dunn said.

"Historically there was more of a stigma - it’s good to see more people becoming eco-conscious."
