A breakthrough for Major Crime Detectives not long after they were called in to investigate a vicious attack on a woman at the Parabanks Shopping Centre this week.

A 25-year-old man from Salisbury East was arrested after being pulled over at Parafield Gardens last night.

He's been charged with attempted murder and will face court today.

The 30-year-old female victim was a cleaner at the centre and suffered serious face and back injuries.

She remains in hospital.

The man will also answer charges for carrying an offensive weapon, driving disqualified and unregistered.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

The incident was declared a Major Crime by police yesterday, with detectives from Major Crime leading the investigation with the assistance of Northern District CIB.
