The young sailor in iconic WWII photograph “The Kiss” has passed away. 

George Mendonsa, is the excited sailor shown kissing a woman in Times Square during celebrations at the end of World War II. He has passed away at aged 95.

It’s reported Mr Mendonsa fell and had a seizure at an living facility in Rhode Island, where he lived with his wife of 70 years.

Mr Mendonsa was captured in the iconic image kissing Greta Zimmer Friedman, a dental assistant in a nurse's uniform, on V-J Day, Aug. 14 1945, the day Japan surrendered to the United States.
