The Saturday Paper

This morning Nick, Jess & Simon spoke to Rosie Batty, a domestic violence campaigner and the 2015 Australian of the Year.

A victim of domestic violence herself, Rosie's role as a campaigner began in 2014 following the death of her 11-year-old son Luke, who was murdered by his father Greg Anderson.

Rosie shared what she learned from her experience, gave advice to victims of domestic violence, or those who many know someone suffering, and talked about ways we can join together to prevent the tragic consequences of domestic violence.

"When we're in relationships, they're complex... there are mixed emotions. And all we can say most of the time is 'Why doesn't she just leave?' And that in itself is a statement and a question that's based on judgement and victim blaming. And it puts a lot of pressure on you."
