LISTEN: Perth's Best Christmas Lights

Of course, this ties in beautifully with The Synergy Xmas Lights Trail, which is back for another year and this year, they've again done the heavy lifting for us and nominated some of the absolute best displays in Perth.

Peoples Choice

Last year’s winner: 8 Meadow Springs Drive, Meadow Springs

Mary and Alan Kartesz-Wardroper’s famous Christmas wonderland attracts visitors by the busload – and for good reason. In 2019, their house got the most votes for the third year running, a testament to the thought and effort that goes into their display. Featuring both inside and outside areas to explore, miniature villages, Christmas trees and nativity sets, there is something for everyone. Mary and Alan also raise money for local organisation, K9 Rescue Group.

Possible contender: 14 Calophylla Way, High Wycombe

Leading the vote count at the time of writing, this family say they love to see people’s eyes light up when they visit, as well as the opportunity to raise money for PCH Foundation. Their display features thousands of lights, a walk through tunnel, snow machine, smoke machine and plenty of inflatables.

Best North of the River

Last year’s winner: 22 Newbury Way Alkimos

The Cloutmans are passionate about Christmas lights put on a sparkling extravaganza each year while raising funds for PCH Foundation. This year, they have 7 metre digital neon tree, handmade neon candy canes, child size handmade gingerbread house, window displays including a 6ft nativity scene and a candy themed garage display.

Possible contender: 2 Sherlock Rise, Carramar
Sherlock Rise Christmas Lights keeps visitors coming back to visit time and time again. On top of all the beautiful lights, there are more than 10 live characters you can meet, including Santa himself, snow machines and a giant sleigh for you to sit in. The Galt family raise money for a local craft club for children with special needs and even host a special sensory night so no one misses out on the magic of Christmas lights.

Best South of the River

Last year’s winner: 8 Pontiac Avenue Cloverdale

Decorating their home for over 20 years, the McMahon family began with just a single light set on their front window and since then their display has grown rapidly every year. This year’s colourful display features Santas of all sizes including a 5 metre inflatable Santa, giant Christmas tree, life size nativity scene, laser light and bubbles.

Possible contender: 102 Riverside Lane, Seville Grove

The Maxfields have one of the most mesmerising window displays in Perth, a moving miniature village. They also have a brightly lit nativity set, a singing and dancing Santa, a snowman dome and a “Christmas Tree of Hope” where you can add your own message on a bauble.

Visit the Synergy Xmas Lights Trail to plot your own trail and find houses near you. Voting closes 13 December so make sure you get yours in at: xmaslightstrail.com.au
