Kensington Palace has this morning responded to reports claiming Meghan Markle’s father will no longer be attending this weekend’s Royal Wedding.
Earlier this month, the Palace confirmed to press that he would be walking Meghan down the aisle:
“Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George's Chapel. Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion."
Now, TMZ has reported that Thomas Markle has pulled out of the wedding following the fallout he had with his daughter after he sold photos of himself to media preparing for the big event, as well as health concerns, with Thomas suffering a heart attack just last week.
“He's now decided not to go because he doesn't want to embarrass the Royal Family or his daughter,” TMZ reported.
Kensington Palace has since responded to these claims, releasing this statement to media:
“This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding.
"She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation."
