Queensland has recorded one new locally acquired case and has been linked back to the Sunnybank outbreak and was detected while in home quarantine.

This brings the total number of active cases across Queensland to 19.

The latest case was detected on the 14th day of home isolation which means the infected person will be required to continue isolating.

Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'Ath thanked the family for their diligence with testing over the 14 day period.

"What that shows, it is so important when people are isolating, they do their full 14 days and do all those tests," she said.

"We thank the family. We know this is difficult to get a test result like this right at the end of your quarantine period.

"But we are so grateful for all those families at St Thomas More and the day care centre for all the work they have been doing."

The new locally acquired case sparked questions surrounding border restrictions with businesses struggling to get through the significant drop in tourism.

In response, the state health minster announced a $70 million support package for businesses who have directly impacted by the border closures, $30 million of this will go to major tourism attractions and the remainder will be distributed to small businesses.

Health Minister D'Ath said current border restrictions are very much dependent on other jurisdictions.

"Every given week we don’t know whether NSW is going to lock down a town, whether it’s Lismore, whether it’s Tweed, whether it’s Byron Bay. We are very much in the hands of other jurisdictions,"she said.
