NSW Police have been spotted patrolling Central Station, with privacy screens set up and sniffer dogs at the scene.

In pictures that have surfaced on social media, the police tents can be seen at Central on the platforms with dogs walking up and down the area.

The photos are understood to have been taken at 2.25pm today.

When contacted, NSW Police told the Hit Newsroom that they regularly patrol train stations and that the privacy screens are erected when the sniffer dogs are operating for the purpose of conducting further searches.

Officers from Police Transport Command, with the assistance of drug detection dogs, have conducted an operation at Central Railway Station today. Theses operations are conducted on a regular basis and often utilise privacy screens.
