A Preston home was struck by lightening last night, going up in flames.

The two elderly residents fled the home as it went up in flames during last night’s violent storm.

The lightening struck the gas meter just before 8pm – catching the house on fire.

Thousands of Melbourne homes lost power during last night’s wild storm and the Upfield line was shut down due to lightening strikes.

Thirty fire fighters attended the blaze and no one was hurt in the fire.
