Police are investigating a possible breakthrough in the case of of William Tyrell who disappeared from his grandmother's yard on the mid-north coast in September, 2014.

Investigators have discovered a burnt-out car that in the bush near where William disappeared. 

The vehicle is believed to belong to Tony Jones, who once was a person of interest in the case. 

Police were alerted of the vehicle's whereabouts but reportedly once they arrived found it had been flipped over and set alight.
