Cairns police investigating a two vehicle crash on Brinsmead Road, Brinsmead on Sunday, February 24 are urging the driver of the second vehicle and witnesses to come forward.

The crash happened at about 2pm when a white utility lost control after leaving the roundabout at the intersection of Kamerunga and Brinsmead Roads at Freshwater.

It’s alleged the male driver of the vehicle travelled toward Brinsmead before losing control of the vehicle in wet conditions.

The vehicle travelled onto the incorrect side of the road and collided with a brown 2000 Mitsubishi Pajero, driven by a 57-year-old Cairns North woman.

The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was conveyed by ambulance to the hospital for medical treatment.

The man in the white utility drove off in the opposite direction without providing particulars.

Both vehicles sustained damage with the woman car sustaining front end damage and the utility sustaining damage to the passenger side panels of the utility and possibly the utility tray.

Witnesses to the crash stopped to provide assistance to the woman, however Police are urging any witnesses to the crash, people who helped the woman or anyone with information about the crash to come forward and speak to police.
