Work will begin on the $5.47 million upgrade of the Ingham Rd and Webb Drive intersection on Monday.

The project includes installing traffic lights and constructing new sliplanes to enter and exit Webb Drive.

BMD was awarded a $3.95m contract to undertake the construction works - creating up to 30 jobs for the life of the project.

Acting Mayor Les Walker said the project would provide a boost to the local economy while ensuring better traffic flow.

“Ingham Rd has more than 13,000 vehicles use it every day so it’s crucial we ensure the best traffic flow and improve safety for all motorists,” Cr Walker said.

“The upgraded intersection will ensure motorists trying to get in or out of Webb Dr have a reduced wait time to get where they need to go.

“Importantly, this project will create dozens of local jobs.”

Infrastructure Committee Chair Cr Mark Molachino said Council was committed to delivering road infrastructure upgrades throughout the city and suburbs.
