We're being told to prep for a low level heat wave, today's high of 36 to kick off 5 days of scorchers.

It's expected to be the longest run of hot weather in 5 years, with temperatures to exceed 35 degrees every day to Sunday.

Neil Bennett from the Weather Bureau says it's important to be sun smart and stay hydrated.

In terms of intensity it is low intensity. People will still need to take care of themselves, and also keep an eye on the elderly and remember to keep pets hydrated.

As it stands Sunday is set to bring an end to the hot weather in Perth, topping out at 40 degrees.

But for the rest of the state 40 will be a relief, Marble Bar will become the hottest town in Australia hitting 46 on Tuesday.

While Paraburdoo will be in the low 40s all week.
