Cardinia Shire residents now have an extra two weeks to vote on a name for a new park in Pakenham. The extended deadline comes after residents treated the survey poll as a joke.

Names such as "Parky McPark Face", "Reservie McReserve Face", and "Without A Paddle" somehow made it into the top 10 names to vote on for the reserve near Deep Creek, with two of them based around last year's Boaty McBoatface story.

The council has responded by dismissing the name suggestions, as the names didn't meet competition guidelines.

The soon-to-be-named park in Pakenham will feature Cardinia Shire’s biggest all-abilities playground; along with an environment centre, a plant nursery, wetlands and gardens, and endangered wildlife.

If you've got a serious name suggestion, Cardinia Shire wants to hear from you before 8th December. More information here on their website.
