On Monday, Australia's Covid-19 vaccine roll-out took a step in the right direction, with more Aussies now eligible for the jab.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is now being offered from more than 4000 GP clinics to anyone over the age of 50.

Australia's good news comes amid claims the second year of the pandemic could be deadlier than the first.

With an estimated 3.3 million lives claimed by Covid-19, the World Health Organisation's Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom, has called on wealthy countries to re-prioritise, as poorer countries only get 0.3 percent of the world's vaccines.

"I understand why some countries want to vaccinate their children, but I urge them to reconsider and instead donate vaccines to poor countries", he said.

It comes after the USA approve the Pfizer vaccine can be given to kids as young as 12.
