Some changes are coming to the way Opal cards work from July, and by the looks of it – this could be quite helpful.

The first change is the minimum automatic top-up amount. Currently, it sits at $40 but will be moved to a much smaller $10.

Secondly, from today, if you are connected to the Opal app, there’s a new feature that will mean you’ll never miss your destination again!

You can plan your trip through the app, and then notified via your smartphone when to get off the bus, ferry or train using built-in GPS. The notifications can be either a noise or vibration, and you can also be told if there’s a service delay!

What do you think of the changes? Let us know on our Facebook page.
