Olympic bosses are due to meet in Brisbane today to discuss the bid for South East Queensland to host the games.

The Council Of Mayors will pitch their plan to the International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach and Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates.

The pair are in the region for SportAccord 2019, one of the world's largest events for sporting and event officials, with more than 1400 delegates descending on the Gold Coast Exhibition and Convention Centre this week.

If the Olympics were held here it would mostly be based in Brisbane, with a number of events spread across the Gold Coast, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast.

Mayor Tom Tate won't be a part of the talks after previously refusing to commit any ratepayer money to the bid.

However he has expressed his interest in bringing events and training to the Gold Coast's stadiums and sporting facilities.
