The number of South Australians who've fallen sick with Salmonella from contaminated Vietnamese rolls has risen to 43.

Three Angkor bakeries at Burton, Salisbury Downs and Blakeview have all been closed temporarily for cleaning following the outbreak.

Preliminary results are expected by the end of the week but initial investigations suggest the culprit is raw egg butter, pate or barbecue ingredients.

SA Health has confirmed 18 people were taken to hospital with acute food poisoning.
