UPDATE: We've got just under a month to leave our thoughts on a proposal to build a massive solar farm at Mannering Park.
Delta Electricity first announced it's plans for a 55 megawatt farm on the grounds of it's Vales Point Power station in August last year, and submitted an environmental impact statement to the state government last Friday.
Feedback on the submission can be left via the Department of Planning's website until March 18.
Delta claims the completed farm will provide enough power for 15,000 homes and generate 100 jobs during construction.
AUGUST 22: A new solar farm capable of powering 15 thousand homes could be headed to Mannering Park as early as next year.
Delta Electricity has confirmed plans to turn 80 hectares of rehabilitated land at their Vales Point Power Station facility into a farm, capable of producing 55 megawatts of power.
Spokesperson Anthony Callen says the company is now waiting on the blueprints for the $75 million project to given the green light.
"(We're proposing the farm be built on) the rehabilitated area of our Ash dam, it's a nice flat area suitable for solar farms," Mr Callen said.
"And the other advantage we have is we're pretty close to electrical infrastructure, so connecting the solar farm to the grid should be a straightforward process."
"If the developer approvals go through as planned we hope to have the environmental impact assessment out for public review before the and of the year, and we'd like to start constructing the project next year."
