The State Government has promised to spend more than $730,000 upgrading the Wagga Botanic Gardens to encourage more visitors to the area.

The project would involve a new walking trail and upgraded facilities, the announcement part of a busy day on the campaign trail for Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Nationals candidate Mackenna Powell.

They also announced that the Bomen Business Park will become a "Special Activation Precinct" to encourage business and jobs growth, but that didn't include any new funding.
