Nanango MP Deb Frecklington is backing the move to ban single use plastic bags from next year.
Ms Frecklington is just one of the MP's throwing their support behind the bill when it was passed through State Parliament last week.
“Queenslanders use around one billion plastic bags every year and the average family collects more than 60 per week.
“By phasing out single-use plastic bags from our local supermarkets, we are making an important investment in our future.”
She is also supporting the Container Refund Deposit scheme set to come into effect from July next year.
Ms Frecklington says it will be a good way for local groups to raise some fundraising dollars.
