The recent rain has been a blessing for our gardens but it has left northern Gold Coast residents slapping themselves silly.

Swarms of mosquitoes have been plaguing the region from Arundel north to Jacobs Well over recent days.

Council blamed strong winds from Cyclone Oma for its normal larvae treatment program not working.

Workers were due to fog more areas around Arundel Hills, Parkwood, Coombabah and Pine Ridge for adult mozzies on Friday.

In the meantime, Councillor Kristyn Boulton said locals can to their part to help more mosquitoes hatching by checking their yards for any containers or puddles of water.

"Plant pots, fallen palm fronds and water holding plants such as Bromeliads are good places to start," she said in a Facebook post.
