After spending majority of last year away from social media and any public spotlight, Miley Cyrus is well and truly back with a lot to say!

We were all blessed with Mark Ronson and Miley’s hit ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ towards the end of last year, but still weren’t 100% certain when the pop superstar would be dropping an official album… until now!

Miley has just released a ‘personal memo to the world’ via Vanity Fair, as well as taken part in an interview with the magazine.

In her personal memo, Miley discussed how she and Liam were brought closer together after the Malibu fires which took their entire home last year.

“When you experience what we experienced together with someone, it is like glue. You’re the only two people in the world who can understand.

“But to have an experience like this—I find myself feeling more connected to being human again.”

She then continued to talk about getting married to Liam as a member of the LGBT+ community:

“The reason that people get married sometimes can be old-fashioned, but I think the reason we got married isn’t old-fashioned—I actually think it’s kind of New Age. We’re redefining, to be f**king frank, what it looks like for someone that’s a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship.

“A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person. What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality. Relationships and partnerships in a new generation—I don’t think they have so much to do with sexuality or gender. Sex is actually a small part, and gender is a very small, almost irrelevant part of relationships.”

“Yeah. Without feeling like you’re putting a Band-Aid on a bad situation and saying, ‘Oh well, you know, now everything will be better.’ Because a lot of people use marriage I think maybe for a cure. But like my favorite woman in the world, Hillary Clinton, says: We’re stronger together. That’ll make me get emotional. That’s what she meant by it. Like, who gives a f**k if he’s a guy, if I’m a girl, or if he was a woman—who gives a f**k? We really are stronger together. One is the loneliest number.”

As for the fires, Miley says she was obviously grateful Liam managed to rescue all their animals, but a number or priceless artworks were lost, including personal letters and drawings from Heath Ledger:

"To lose “everything” at that time—materially, because no lives of people I know and love were lost. Liam and I have also found a new bond underneath all that rubble.

"Going through a natural disaster, the grief you experience is really unlike any other loss. No more, just different. In our position it feels or looks like everything is replaceable and you can start again, but you can’t buy spirit.

"Our place wasn’t filled with expensive, meaningless shit, but art—a lot of which I made on my own, and by others, including personal letters and drawings from Heath Ledger, John Kricfalusi, Joan Jett, Murakami, David LaChapelle, and so many others that I respect including our lovely photographer Ryan McGinley."

For those holding out for new music, Miley says her next album will sound like a blend of her whole career:

“There’s psychedelic elements, there’s pop elements, there’s more hip-hop-leaning records,” she confirmed.

“You know, in the same way I like to kind of just be genderless, I like feeling genre-less... [the album is] just kind of a mosaic of all the things that I’ve been before.”

The article also says the new album is set to drop sometime around our winter!
