A man has been sentenced to life behind bars for the "extraordinarily vicious" murder of Victoria mother of two, Karen Chetcuti.
Michael Cardamone attacked his neighbour at her Whorouly home as she watered her vegetable garden in January 2016.
He then held the 49 year-old hostage, injected her with battery acid, sexually assaulted her and then burnt her alive.
On Friday, Supreme Court Justice Lex Lasry ordered Cardamone to serve a life sentence without parole for the "callous and thoroughly unprovoked" murder.
Cardamone was on parole at the time of Chetcuti's murder for the rape of a 15 year-old girl.
