headspace is a major winner in the federal budget, with just under $300 million going towards mental health services

Mental health services will receive an extra $2.3 billion in the 2021 federal budget, with the bulk of the funding going to treatment centres and suicide prevention efforts.

Around $298 million will go towards suicide prevention, including care and support once leaving hospital.

Wide Bay Acting Centre Manager at headspace, Sam Howard, says lots of the money would be towards new centres and existing centres, and it's come at the right time.

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.
