A Melbourne woman has had an extremely close call after her car was crushed by a loose sign on the Tullamarine freeway.
Intense dashcam footage of the incident has been obtained by 9 News. The video shows the sign falling from the gantry before landing just in front of the 54-year-old driver's car. The incredible timing gave her no opportunity to break or swerve.
The woman was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital with minor neck injuries.
A Transurban spokesperson told 9News.com.au that they "undertook initial investigations overnight to check other similar signs installed as part of the CityLink Tulla Widening project.
“Safety is of paramount importance to us and we will continue to work in collaboration with VicRoads, Major Road Projects Victoria and CPB Contactors as part of the investigation.”
Major Roads Project Victoria and Victoria Police are investigating.
