A school in Melbourne has suspended a student who created a 'hit list', naming dozens of his classmates and spoke about killing them.

It is understood that the list has been circulated among senior students at the prestigious Melbourne Grammar School.

Next is each entry was reportedly a short, offensive description, according to The Age.

Headmaster of the school Roy Kelley has said that the school has spoken with Victoria Police.

No further action will be taken at this stage.

“Melbourne Grammar School is aware of the compilation of a ‘negative’ list of students in the senior school, created by a fellow student,” Mr Kelley said.

“We regard this incident as a very serious matter. We consider the actions of the student involved in creating this list to be unacceptable.”

The student has been suspended, and counselling has been provided to the students and families.
