Work is underway on the hardstand area of the Roma Saleyards Precinct Development.

The development works will include:

  • gravel hardstand area for heavy vehicle parking (2.3ha hardstand for road trains and 0.5ha hardstand for B-doubles) with funding assistance from the federal government;
  • a gravel hardstand car park;
  • upgrade of the Saleyards entrance to cater for Type 2 road trains including a new culvert, new cattle grid and upgrading of electrical and telecommunication infrastructure; and
  • a storm water detention basin and storm water management infrastructure.

Further activity in the precinct is expected in the coming months as United Petroleum commences work on their multi-million dollar petrol station and truck stop, to be constructed at the corner of the Warrego Highway and the Roma Saleyards entry road.

Council is hoping for November 2017 completion date and a February 2018 end date for the truck stop.
