A man was airlifted to a Brisbane hospital yesterday after he slammed into a tree while trying to avoid hitting a stray dog.

The accident happened around 10am on a rural dirt road.

The man in his 20s, swerved in an attempt to miss hitting the dog, losing control of his car, hitting a tree.

He sustained multiple suspected fractures in the crash.  He was stabilised at the scene before being flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
