Man Arrested Following Discovery Of Woman's Body In Chinatown

A man has been arrested over the suspicious death of a woman, whose body was found in Melbourne's Chinatown.

The 32-year-old man was in custody being questioned late on Wednesday, police said.

The woman, reported to be aged 33, was found about 6.30am at the intersection of Little Bourke Street and Celestial Avenue.

She is yet to be identified .

An autopsy will be undertaken to determine the cause of her "suspicious" death, police said.

Acting Superintendent Craig Peel told reporters earlier in the day he believed the woman was already dead when a member of the public reported her body in the street.
