It was a sad day when we found out one of Married At First Sight’s only successful couples, Zoe Hendrix and Alex Garner, had called it quits.
Sharing a beautiful baby girl together, Zoe recently appeared on Julia Hasche’s podcast Single Mother Survival Guide to share her struggles with co-parenting.
“Last night, I picked her up, and I just thought, ‘This is not healthy,’ as in, this system, when you break up with someone, you're meant to go your separate ways.
“You're meant to just be out of each other's lives. Like, fully gone. It's really almost like a cruel system to have to see that person so regularly. It's not right, but it has to happen like that.”
Their set up with daughter Harper Rose sees their toddler spend “90 percent of the time” with Zoe, while Alex “has her one night a week, and then usually for a couple of hours on another day in the afternoon”.
Taking to Instagram, Zoe wrote:
“We covered everything from the shame that I felt following the separation, understanding heartbreak and grief, strategies to rise up again, the resilience of children, co-parenting challenge, the unexpected joys of parenting alone!!”
Yet another reminder that every parent has their struggles!
