Tomorrow there will be plenty to see on the streets of Townsville to commemorate the ANZACs, but make sure you keep an eye out for the flypasts.

9:15am – The Strand: From Pallarenda, over Jezzine Barracks to Anzac Park

9:25am – Thuringowa: West to East over Thuringowa Cenotaph

During these flypasts, the King Air aircraft will be operating as low as 100 metres in some areas. To ensure the requested flypast timings are met, the aircraft may be required to remain in a holding pattern at low level prior to conducting each flypast.

The Air Force operates eight King Air aircraft from RAAF Base Townsville.

Number 38 Squadron operates the aircraft in the light transport role with a surveillance-platform capability.

The aircraft operates throughout the Australian, South East Asia and Pacific regions and has been deployed to East Timor, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and Vanuatu.

Recently the squadron was instrumental in gathering airborne imagery used for damage assessment of the Whitsunday Islands, Arlie Beach, Proserpine and Bowen following Tropical Cyclone Debbie.
