Kalgoorlie police are happy to report a fatality-free, safe long weekend this year as many people opted to leave Kalgoorlie-Boulder for Easter celebrations.

At this time of the year people tend to move away from Kalgoorlie and head to Perth or the coast so it’s the regions quietest time. The roads would remain busy though as people start to make their way back.

Several officers from Perth were sent to Kalgoorlie-Boulder on Thursday to help police in monitoring a large presence of Gypsy Joker Motorcycle Club members in town celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Kalgoorlie Police said there were no problems caused from the influx of club members from the Eastern States and overseas as they made their way through Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

There were a lot of people around town but everyone behaved responsibly. There was a major focus on traffic this weekend to make sure everyone arrived and left safely.
