The group have found that school expenses for one child at primary school can cost parents upwards of $2000 per year.
The organisation is now appealing to locals to lend a helping hand, and consider sponsoring an Australian child to help them get back to school.
The sponsorship program works to support a child's education as a way to break the cycle of disadvantaged; with funds going towards classroom essentials, and access to out-of-school learning and mentoring programs.
Data has found there are 1.1 million children and young people living in poverty.
