An artist is left feeling violated after someone stole is bush turkey. The wooden Turkey had been nesting outside the MECC since 2013 until it was recently stolen. A Mackay mum of three accused of burglary has been refused bail. The 29 year old faced Mackay Magistrates Court in custody on Thursday after missing a court appearance in January. The court issued a warrant for her arrest and she was later found on the top of a cupboard in a house used by squatters. She has been charged with breaking into a home and stealing a wallet, possessing tainted and stolen property, drug possession and five counts of breaching bail
Traffic became backed up in both directions in Slade Point after a ute lost its load. 15 litres of hydrochloric acid was spilled on the road around midday yesterday, when the vehicle's side door opened coming around the corner. Two fire crews did attend the Keeleys road incident to neutralise the spill with sodium bicarbonate. It was all cleared just before 3pm

Training Supervisor Scott Young says they're changing their business to adapt to a spike in industry needs.
The 2018 Professional Bull Riders Australia tour is saddling up to hit the road. The event is excited to host a fresh calendar of live events, record prize money, a 25th global anniversary, and a purpose built mobile stadium. The tour kicks off next month and will find its way to Mackay on September 8.
Registrations are now open for the Mackay City Auto Group North Queensland Games .The Biennial event will be held in the first week of May with over 30 sports already registered. It is the largest regularly run multi- sport event in regional Australia with nearly 400 competitors and officials expected to attend.
