Member for Mallee Andrew broad has launched an inquiry into modernising Australia's electricity grid.

As the Chair of the House of Representatives standing committee on the Environment and Energy Mr Broad is leading the discussion into the best way to find a balance that will deliver a secure power source that is affordable and adapts to emerging technology.

He says the inquiry will seek to understand the local community's expectations of the grid, examine the challenges and explore the opportunities to modernise it.



it's full steam ahead in the bid to relocate the Murray Darling Basin Authority to Sunraysia with the basin's water ministers set to meet in Mildura this month.

The Murray Darling Basin Ministerial Council meeting will be held of March 16th and 17th bringing in key ministers from all over the country Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce.

Local members have backed to move of the MDBA to our region whether that be New South Wales or Victoria -  both councils would like to see it relocated to a riverside community.



As part of New South Wales Road Rules Awareness Week regional road safety is the major focus.

A plea for drivers across the border to refresh their knowledge of the road rules with new figures showing two thirds of lives lost in new south wales last year were on country roads.

41% of fatal crashes on regional roads involved local drivers and a further 29% were other regional residents.

The key message this week is to slow down as speed remains the number one contributor to the states regional road toll.



The National Disability Insurance Scheme has almost doubled over the past 3 months with 61 thousand people across the country now on an approved plan.

Maryanne Diamond from the NDIA says the progress is encouraging news for local families preparing for the rollout which will happen in the Mallee and in Wentworth next year.
