Red Cliff's Lunarfest cancelled

Vice President of the National Farmers Federation and Riverina irrigator Les Gordon has welcomed a project to analyse how water recovery could ensure neutral or improved socio-economic outcomes in the Murray Darling Basin Plan.

Minister for Agriculture and Water, Barnaby Joyce and his state and territory colleagues all agreed to the important independent study and Mr Gordon says he's glad to see words being put into action.

Mr Joyce has released the terms of reference for the probe which will examine the impacts of and opportunities for the 'up-water' component of the Basin Plan.

The NFF says another commitment was made in March to a 'credible pathway' for delivering the supply measures or 'down-water' component of the plan with Basin Ministers given until June 30 to nominate their suite of supply measure projects.


An new citrus handbook has been released online, to assist in improving the quality of fruit.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries handbook provides further incentive to growers such as those in our region, detailing the best practices in delivering quality fruit to lucrative export markets.

The handbook also gives information on maintaining a healthy workforce


The Rotary Club of Red Cliff's annual Lunarfest has been cancelled.

Locals are shocked to see the end of the one-day celebration that marks the end of harvest.

The decision was made to end axe the event, with organisers admitting they've run out of steam.


Forest Fire Management Victoria staff are investigating a large rubbish dump in Cardross Koorlong State Forest north west of Red Cliffs.

The litter was a mixture of plastic, paper, cardboard, polystyrene, wood, metal, electrical items and more.

Under the 1970 Environmental Protection Act, illegally dumping rubbish on public land carries a fine of over three hundred dollars on the spot, and can be well over 6 thousand dollars if prosecuted in Court.

Anyone with information about the May 26th dumping is encouraged to call Forest Fire Management Victoria - all details will be confidential.

The local netball teams are hitting the court to prep for Round 7 of the Sunraysia Football and Netball Association's A Grade Comp.

Imperials will try to claim a victory from Red Cliffs at the No. 1 City Oval.

Irymple is set to face off against Merbein at Kenny Park.

Mildura will try and break apart the Ouyen United side at Blackburn Park.

Robinvale Euston will take on South Mildura at Riverside Park,

And the Wentworth team will get ready for the next weekend, enjoying a bye.
