It's a story sure to tug your heart strings... Local dog owner Belinda Phillips, proud owner of Snoop the dog, received a letter saying she needed to put down her RSPCA rescue dog because of an incident with its prior owner, only discovered recently due to a paperwork mixup.

The 8yo staffy-cross is now in the hands of Whittlesea City Council as the Phillips seek legal advice and community support to keep their dog alive.

"What we're asking for is that, you know, we're just able to keep him in the backyard the way we do now. We're happy if we take him out in public to have him on a special lead, or to have him muzzled." - Belinda Phillips
