After an emotional plea on National TV, Perth native Ethan Carter has been granted an exemption to fly home to Perth to visit his dying mother.

Police Commissioner Chris Dawson stepped in yesterday to green-light the G2G pass that will grant him access across the WA border to reunite with his mother who has been in permanent care for the last few years.

Carter flew into Sydney from Los Angeles yesterday, pleading to WA Premier Mark McGowan on Channel 7’s Sunrise for the exemption.

On the verge of tears, Carter pleaded to McGowan to allow people to see their families.

“Think of the people that are suffering, like mentally to see their family, that’s also a health issue. We know we’ve gotta protect peoples lives but you’ve gotta bring families together again, you have to, everyone needs to be together, it’s so important. It’s been so long since I’ve seen her and I love her heaps and I just want to get back there,” he said.

Carter will be subjected to 14 days quarantine and Covid testing.
