An elected Liberal Nationals Government has committed over $21 million towards the GV Health Masterplan, which includes a Residential Mother and Baby Unit and the planning of Stage 2 of the hospital redevelopment.

The GV Health Masterplan was set to be completed in March 2018, but was continually pushed back by the Andrews Labor Government. Moving forward, the Liberal Nationals promise to deliver a 5-bed Residential Mother and Baby Unit, and to get the Masterplan into the design and early works stage.

Shadow Minister for Health, Mary Wooldridge, said that the new Unit will enable women "to stay with their babies, when they might otherwise be admitted to the Adult Acute Unit and separated from their infants or even have to travel to Melbourne for their mental health care".
