Last Night's Game Of Thrones Episode Featured Some Throwbacks You Might Have Missed

The first episode of Game Of Thrones season eight featured some pretty big throwbacks to an early episode!

While there were plenty of references to previous events in the series, there's one particular episode we want to focus on.

Episode one, season one. The pilot.

Here's a list of some of the things that were spotted by Reddit user DukeOfTheVines and other commenters on social media.

1. The episode opens with a young boy watching a procession arrive at Winterfell from a high vantage point. In season one this was Bran, in season eight this is a young local boy.

2. Arya also watches the procession arrive in both season one and season eight. Despite all she's seen in her travels, she still seems pretty excited by it all now!

3. The episodes both end with a moment between Jaime and Bran. In season one, Jaime pushed Bran out the window which in many ways set in motion a lot of the events that were to come. In season eight, Jaime and Bran's eyes meet across the courtyard at Winterfell. Jaime has clearly not thought about Bran for many years, but Bran had earlier said he was "waiting for an old friend".

4. When Sansa and Daenerys meet, it echoes the moment when Ned Stark welcomed Robert Baratheon to Winterfell. The shots are extremely similar, with Sansa and Ned both shown as the head of House Stark. They both say "Winterfell is yours".

5. In the pilot episode, Robert says to Ned "I have a son, you have a daughter, we'll join our houses." Now that we've seen a reunion between Robert's illegitimate son Gendry with Arya Stark, this could actually become a possibility.

6. In the pilot, Ned and Robert talk in the crypt, and later Ned says to Jon that when he sees him next "we will talk about your mother". In season eight, Sam and Jon talk in the crypt and Sam explains who Jon's real parents are - in front of a statue of Ned.

We can't wait to see what else this season throws at us!
