It's the end of the line for the Coca-Cola factory at Thebarton today.

Bottling at the site will end after 66 years, the company announcing the decision to cease manufacturing there last year.

Moving production to WA and Queensland, along with the Port Road building's expected sale is set to save Coke $20 million.

While 180 jobs are affected, they've promised to keep on 300 staff in other areas of SA including the distribution site at Salisbury.

The 5.2 hectare site has been rezoned to allow residential development of up to eight storeys and is believed to have attracted a lot of interest from interstate buyers.

Valued at almost $17 million it won't be sold until next year.
