A man's accused of leading police on a high speed chase with two young children in the car north of Port Stephens.
The pursuit began near Taree yesterday morning, with officers spotting a stolen BMW X1 travelling at speed on the Pacific Highway at Ghinni Ghinni yesterday morning.
The chase was later terminated near Forster due to safety concerns.
Police say the BMW was monitored entering Nerong south of Bulahdelah where it crashed intro trees off a fire trail.
A 25 year old female passenger and two young kids aged 3 and 5 were found nearby uninjured.
The 22 year old alleged driver ran off on foot but was later tracked down with help from Polair and the Dog Unit.
He's facing Forster Local Court today on numerous traffic offences including drive with child not restrained.
The woman was charged with 'be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner'.
Family and Community Services have been notified.
