After almost 10 years, Sisters Supa IGA in Joondalup will be closing its doors, unable to compete with the discounts of major chain supermarkets.

Family run and owned by Mindarie residents Peter and Cate Brodie, the pair broke the news to customers on their Facebook page and website last night.

Post

“It is with heavy hearts we are announcing that after 9 1/2 years, Sisters Supa IGA in Joondalup will be closing its doors.

"We have been working hard with our business partners to try and reach a solution that would see the store continuing to trade but the lack of support for the independent model (outside of our loyal customer base) and the relentless discounting by the Chains has left us with no other option”.

The store is well known for their community support, offering a ‘pay it forward’ scheme which offers customers the opportunity to purchase $5 vouchers for those in need to buy a hot meal from the deli.
