International Women's Day is tomorrow, and what better way to kick it off than to celebrate some inspiring women from the Gold Coast?! We are lucky to have a variety of success stories come from the glitter strip and hopefully, they inspire you as much as they inspire us!
For obvious reasons, Margot Robbie is on our list as one of the Gold Coast's most inspirational women. After securing a spot in Neighbours, she moved to LA to pursue her dreams. Now, she's one of Hollywood's 'it girls', having starred alongside Leonardo Di'Caprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, Will Smith in Focus, The Legendary Tarzan alongside Alexander Skarsgård and more! She was recently nominated for Best Actress at The Oscars and you know what? That's a pretty solid effort! All hail, Queen Margot!
Known for her hit track, 'Adore', Amy Shark is no doubt one of Australia's best solo artists at the moment. Having performed at the ARIA's (where she won twice) and The Late Late Show With James Corden, she is now set to play live on Jimmy Fallon next week. We're so excited to have this Gold Coast gal as our own and we can't wait to see where her career takes her next!
Jesinta Franklin (nee Campbell) is one of Australia's most recognised models, having won Miss Universe Australia in 2010 and placing 2nd runner-up in Miss Universe 2010. Having grown up on the Gold Coast, Jesinta was an obvious inclusion in our list. She is now known her her TV presenting roles and having walked the catwalk for David Jones for a number of years.
Giaan Rooney is an former Olympic gold medalist in swimming and now has a successful television career with Channel 7, focusing on sport and news. Giaan started her swimming training right here in the Gold Coast's Miami and won her first gold medal at the young age of 15 in the 1998 Commonwealth Games. There's no doubt she's an inspirational woman that we want to celebrate!
Suzi Dent is a television and advertising hair and makeup artist AND wardrobe stylist, who was approached to compete in the Ms Earth Australia pageant which saw her take out the title and place 3rd in Mrs Earth at 55-years-old! Since then, Suzi has been been supporting charity, Soles4Souls and Friends With Dignity and continues to encourage Gold Coast women to live their best life.
While you may recognise her from being the most recent The Bachelorette Australia, it's not all dates and champagne for Sophie Monk! Sophie has worked hard for a very rewarding career, appearing in films such as Date Night and Click, and, she has done the rounds in radio, co-hosting breakfast shows around the country. We are stoked to have her as a Gold Coast local!
