We also caught up with the master behind this incredible colour Stuart Bane, Wella Professionals salon Colour Director, Stylist and member of Wella Professionals ANZ Colour Club this week, to pick up some premium pre-parade party-hair tricks.

We wanted to find out how to achieve the best look, and what Mardi Gras means to him…

If you’re curious about adding colour to your hair, what is the best way to dabble with a new look?
SB: I always try and encourage my clients to be adventurous and step outside of their comfort zone. As most vivid colours are temporary and require low commitment, they give you the creative license to play around and switch it up. For anyone curious about having a colour transformation, seek advice from a Wella Professionals salon colourist about the look you are hoping to achieve and the best way to create it with your hair type.

What is your favourite part about a colour transformation?
SB: Colour transformations are always loads of fun. I love bringing colour into my clients lives and seeing the joy that the process and the finished look gives them. The best thing about Color Fresh CREATE is that all shades are intermixable, so you can create something really individual.

If a client wanted to recreate your Color Fresh CREATE look, what should they ask for in salon?
SB: To recreate a look like this one, ask your colourist for a full head colour transformation using Wella Professionals Color Fresh CREATE. The range is made up of 11 vibrant shades and one clear shade, giving you a kaleidoscope of possibilities to suit your style and expression, from pastels to vivid brights.

What does Mardi Gras means to you?
SB: When I think of Mardi Gras I can’t help but smile. It’s such a fun time of year! On a personal level, the festival means acceptance both within the LGBTQI family and the wider community, and this is a great feeling. Being the 40th anniversary, as well as the first Mardi Gras since Marriage Equality was passed, having Wella Professionals as major partner to SGLMG this year makes it even more special. We can’t wait to be a part of it.
